Poems

Dedicated To President Abraham Lincoln

Though it is rags-to-riches story
A chequered career yours have been
Covered with chapters full of glory,
The Abraham Lincoln, Americans have seen.

From the log house to the white house,
Was a ceaseless and tireless battle
Matters became worst with his spouse.
Existed still there an unsurpassed dazzle.

Lincoln's tenure as the president,
Witnessed the war most devastating.
Involving a part of the continent,
Canons and guns reverberating.

The phrase "With malice towards none,
And with charity for all,
Was the message for every one
In every sense a right call.

Many of the unique masterpieces,
Which most of us are already acquainted
Came down in the form of Lincolnian phrases,
Goes to prove his spirit undaunted.

On April 15 1865, came the ill-fated day,
With a thundering resonance.
The Great Emancipator was made to lay,
While attending a theatre performance.
