India Thy Name Is Great

India thy name is Unity in diversity,
Coined properly for Thou;
Amidst turmoils and adversity,
Like the Gibraltar rocks stood Thou.

Lured by thy abundant wealth,
Countless invasions took place;
Yet thou took the normal breath.
Without the slightest grimace.

Generous art thou in every dealing.
Testimonies does it reveal
Cured thou with touch of healing
Which remains without any conceal.

Be it the Jews or Parsees,
Took shelter in thy bosom.
Lost individual identities overseas,
For lucratives very handsome.

Produced thou gems in thy soil,
In the form of Gandhi and Jawaharlal.
Who due to their honest toil,
Earned name and fame without any parallel.

Ahimsa and tolerance are thy key words.
Familiar since times immemorial
Carried from ancient times onwards.
Got tarnished in modern editorials.
